Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of an image. It is the single most effective way to reduce file size — halving the width and height removes three quarters of the pixels, which usually beats any amount of compression.
Most images are far larger than they need to be. A modern phone shoots at 4000 pixels wide; a full-width image on a website rarely needs more than 1920, and a thumbnail needs a few hundred. Sending a camera-resolution photo where a resized one would do is the most common cause of slow-loading pages and rejected email attachments.

Will resizing make my image blurry?
Making a photo smaller is safe and often looks sharper, not blurrier. Making one bigger cannot add detail the camera never captured, so it will always look soft — which is why this tool will not enlarge past the original size.
What size should I use for the web?
A big banner image across the top of a page rarely needs to be more than 1920 wide. Pictures within an article are fine at around 1200, and small thumbnails at 400. If you want them razor sharp on modern phones and laptops, double those numbers.
Can I resize many images at once?
