Converting GIF to JPG takes a still frame out of an animation. GIFs are also capped at 256 colours per frame, so a photograph saved as one has already lost most of its shades — this cannot bring them back, but it does give you a file that behaves like a picture rather than a video.

Will converting to JPG reduce the image quality?
